50 testimonial questions that get real answers.

A blank box asking for a review is why response rates are low. Pick one pointed question instead. Every question below is free to copy and use, no email required.

What makes a testimonial question work?

A good testimonial question points at one specific memory instead of asking for an opinion. Ask what changed, what came before, or what almost stopped them, and the customer answers from recall rather than writing an essay. One question per ask beats a form every time.

Outcome stories

Use these when you want a result a buyer can picture. They work best right after a customer hits something they care about.

  1. 01What changed for you after you started using us?
  2. 02What were you doing before, and what does that look like now?
  3. 03What result are you most pleased with so far?
  4. 04What did this replace, and what happened to the time you got back?
  5. 05If you had to put one number on the difference, what would it be?
  6. 06What can your team do now that it could not do before?
  7. 07What surprised you about the outcome?
  8. 08How would you describe the before and after to a colleague?
  9. 09What problem is now off your plate entirely?
  10. 10Which part of the result mattered most to your business?
Switching stories

These draw out comparison detail. They are the questions that make a comparison page credible, because the customer names the trade-off themselves.

  1. 01What were you using before, and why did you start looking?
  2. 02What finally pushed you to change something?
  3. 03What were you worried about when you switched?
  4. 04What did the move actually involve for your team?
  5. 05What do you have now that you did not have before?
  6. 06Was there anything you missed from the old way of working?
  7. 07What would you tell someone still on the fence about switching?
  8. 08How long did it take before the change felt worth it?
  9. 09What did you evaluate us against?
  10. 10What made the decision for you in the end?
Implementation stories

Buyers quietly fear the setup more than the price. These questions surface the honest onboarding experience.

  1. 01How long did it take to get up and running?
  2. 02What did the first week look like?
  3. 03Who on your team was involved in setting it up?
  4. 04What was easier than you expected?
  5. 05What was harder than you expected?
  6. 06What would you do differently if you set it up again?
  7. 07How did you get the rest of the team using it?
  8. 08What did you not have to do that you thought you would?
  9. 09Did anything about the setup change how you work?
  10. 10What advice would you give someone starting next week?
Objection stories

The most persuasive proof answers a doubt out loud. Ask these when you know the objection your pipeline keeps hitting.

  1. 01What almost stopped you from buying?
  2. 02What were you sceptical about at first?
  3. 03Was there a moment you thought this would not work for you?
  4. 04What did you need to see before you committed?
  5. 05How did you justify the cost internally?
  6. 06Who else had to agree, and what convinced them?
  7. 07What would you say to someone with the same hesitation you had?
  8. 08What did you expect to go wrong that did not?
  9. 09Is there anything you would still change about the product?
  10. 10What makes you stay rather than go back?
Video prompts

Video needs shorter, warmer prompts. Give people one question at a time and let them talk for thirty seconds.

  1. 01In one sentence, what do we do for you?
  2. 02Tell me about the moment you realised this was working.
  3. 03What would you say to a friend running the same problem?
  4. 04What is the one feature you would not give up?
  5. 05Describe your week before us, and your week now.
  6. 06What is something you did not expect to like?
  7. 07Who should use this, and who should not?
  8. 08How did the team react when you rolled it out?
  9. 09What is the smallest thing that makes the biggest difference?
  10. 10Finish this sentence: I would recommend this because...
